Read this week's message from Father Don
Dear parishioners,
The beautiful season of Advent begins next Sunday December 3.
Advent invites us to quiet reflection upon the mystery of God coming close to us. The readings at mass speak about Christ coming in glory at the end of time, Christ announced by John the Baptist and Christ in the womb cherished by Mary, the humble handmaid of the Lord.
The four weeks of Advent are brought to life through the Advent Wreath, a wonderful devotion that I encourage you to share with your family. You can purchase a set of Advent candles in the parish foyer after mass. Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the Advent Family Prayer and use it at your family’s Sunday dinner.
This year the parish is also offering Advent Fridays, a series of four Friday evening celebrations with music, confessions, snacks, and special activities. Each celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Here are the details:
● December 1. Mass with music, confessions, snacks and a discussion in the hall.
● December 8. Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
● December 15. Advent penitential service with five priests available for confession.
● December 22. Mass with music, confessions, snacks and a discussion in the hall.
You may also wish to join an Evening of Praise and Worship, faith-sharing and quiet reflection on Saturday December 16 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
Love
Fr Don
